I took a trip up to watch my 1st meeting of the season, it was my 1st EL meeting in a good few years.Robin scored 3+1(3) lastnight at Swindon. As a neutral it wasn't the best meeting i have seen at Swindon. Just thought i'd mention a bit about Mads & PUK.

Mads was sensational so quick over the 1st 2 laps every race, then he did what he had to when he was starting to get reeled in laps 3 & 4, and never looked like getting passed even though the lead he had built up was eroded in every race. Reading twitter late lastnight seemingly was carrying an injury and that was why he didn't do heat 15, so that might explain why he was slowing down. PUK was well PUK, great and average in the same meeting.

Onto Robin.

Was very impressed with him around Blunsdon, looked very smooth and was always on the pace & he easily beat Wolbert & Toft.

Heat 2. He didn't make the gate but of bend 2 he switched to the outside then he went passed Toft on bend 3 lap 1 and was closing in on Howe.
Heat 7 Competed with Madsout of the start but Mads rode out onto the line Robin was on blocking his run, this allowed Andersen up his inside in to 2nd. Mads & Hans then pulled away out front, but Robin was well clear of Wolbert.
Heat 11 he picked up a point after Nermark fell, KL gated on a 5-1, but PUK messed up bend 2 sending him to the back, leaving Nermark out front with Andersen 2nd & Aspegren 3rd & Puk in 4th. Andersen passed Nermrk lap 2, then PUK passed Aspegren of bend 3 lap 2. Nermark going into bend 3 lap 3 seemed to pick up a bit of grip, hit the fence and bouncing back was thrown forward into his bike he tried to stay up but fell of, letting PUK & Robin through and Nermark then cleared the track.

Robin was unfortunate to be taken out of Heat 14 IMO as i think he would definitely have beaten Wolbert, and could have beaten Howe. But Swindon wanted to secure the 3 league points and tactically it was a no brainer as it ment they could afford to get 5-1d in heat 15 which they did, as the Stars easily outgated the Robins in heat 15.

I went upto Swindon lastnight to watch the Robins beat the Panthers, with relative ease.
Swindon looked very strong tonight. Particularly Kildemand who was awesome, but Andersen & Morris were good value, Batchelor looked somewhat nearer to recovering his form of last year, Stead was as solid & entertaining as ever. Covered TK & RA nights below.
As for the Panthers Sundstrom he was fantastic value and probably just shaded by PK as the best rider on the night. Bjerre made a pass (can't believe i actually saw it) and had a solid evening & Fisher was pretty solid as well. After that the Panthers looked to have a weak tail. Bach, Monberg, Lawson all scored a couple of points without doing a lot.

As an added bonus to watching Robin, the Robins brought Todd in as guest. .

Todd gated first in every race but was easily passed around the outside in his first two races, (Heat 3 & Heat 5) although i wouldn't say he was miles off the pace in either, as they do tend to end up fairly strung out at Swindon. In his third race (Heat 9) he rode a slightly wider line coming of the exit of bend 2 & Entrance of bend 3 and he got his reward by beating Lawson without even being troubled. Its good to see him doing so well at Poole and starting to prove himself at the higher level. Think he has made a big step forward this year already & hope the improvement continues.

1+1 (3) for Todd.

As for Robin, got a flier in the original staging of Heat 2 & it got pulled back. In the second staging everybody else outgated him and he was left at the back. In his 2nd ride Heat 7 gated into 2nd comfortably and followed Linus home, with Stead getting past Monberg to make it a 3-3. Heat 11 Robin gated into the lead, with Stead behind him unfortunately Stead and Robin both ride a similar line, Stead was probably being held up and locked up, and Bjerre made a good move up the inside of Stead down the backstraight took the inside line on bend 3 and was passed on bends 3 & 4, this left Robin in front to try and hold off Bjerre until bend 3 & 4 lap 2 where Bjerre made the same move, Stead then caught up with Robin and went round the outside of him on lap to get 2nd. Finally in Heat 14, Kildemand in for Kurtz, both Kildemand & Robin out the gate, but Kildemand didn't try and team ride with Robin, and on lap 2 Sundstrom went past Robin Sundstrom then was all over Kildemand but Kildemand held him off superbly.

4+1(4)

Other than that just will mention the best heats of the night.

Heat 4, Robins gated, but then Fisher kept it wound on to round the lot of them off bend 1 & 2 to lead from Stead, with Monberg in front of Kildemand. Two races going on in this for 4 laps. Stead all over Fisher, until bend 2 lap 3 when Stead passed Fisher to have the inside line down into bend 3. At the back Kildemand was trying hard to pass Monberg, Monberg held him off to the last lap when Kildemand, lined him up on bend 3 & 4 and went around him.

Heat 10 Superb ride from Linus. Robins gated on a 5-1, Andersen out in front, Morris in 2nd, Morris left a gap off bend 2 and Linus took full advantage to get into 2nd, he then set off after Hans, and reeled him in rapidly(later seen that Hans wasn't happy with the speed in his bike in a tweet mentioning how well Linus rode), Hans wasn't quick enough off bend 2 lap 4 and left a gap up his inside, which allowed Linus to draw level just before the entrance to bend 3 and Linus made sure that he was getting into the corner first, to come through for the win.

Heat 9 in which Todd scored his point, also saw Batchelor looking much more racey he was all over Fisher for the race, who won from tapes to flag on the black and white, but he had to ride a very good defensive race to ensure he got the win.

Great match report, thanks so much for a comprehensive account.

Hard to hear our riders doing stuff for other teams, but life goes on.

Gutted that if i go to Swindon again this year i wont see Robin & on the face of it, it might seem harsh. However:-

"Aspegren has taken on meetings in his home country Sweden which means he will be missing several Robins meetings." I think i read somewhere it was upto 6 (home) matches between now and the end of the season that he would be unavailable.

That said as one door closes another opens & he could have a good opportunity to get a PL place now until the end of the season with a few injuries, plus many teams looking at what they can add to challenge for or secure their playoff spots etc & therefore teamspots available.

Could also be a good tactical move to keep Robin on a sub 4 point ave by Swindon, as from what i have seen he might have pushed his average over 4 points (with the right fixtures)

Personally i think that he is better off finishing the season in Sweden, which will make him a very attractive signing for next year in both leagues (assuming rules don't change) then

He will have a sub 4 point EL average @ 3.86

He will have a sub 6 point PL average @ 5.73
